Exodus 20:17 “You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his male servant, or his female servant, or his ox, or his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor's.” English Standard Version

Yo, fam! Here's a sick translation of that verse in Gen Z lingo:

"Okay, so like, don't be all jealous and wanting what your neighbor's got, ya know? Don't be thirsting after their crib, or their bae, or their squad, or their ride, or their dope pets, or anything that's theirs, yo!"

Ephesians 5:3 But sexual immorality and all impurity or covetousness must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints. English Standard Version

1. Coveting is idolatry.

Ephesians 5:5 For you may be sure of this, that everyone who is sexually immoral or impure, or who is covetous (that is, an idolater), has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. English Standard Version

2. Coveting brings chaos.

James 3:16 For where there is envy and contention there is also chaos and every evil thing. Aramaic Bible in Plain English

James 3:16 For where envying and contention is, there is inconstancy, and every evil work. Douay-Rheims Bible

Luke 12:15 And he said to them, “Take care, and be on your guard against all covetousness, for one's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.” English Standard Version

Comparison kills Contentment

INSECURITY

1 Samuel 18:6 As the troops were returning home after David had killed the Philistine, the women came out of all the cities of Israel to meet King Saul with singing and dancing, with joyful songs, and with tambourines and other instruments. 7 And as the women danced, they sang out: “Saul has slain his thousands, and David his tens of thousands.” Berean Study Bible

1 Samuel 18:8 And Saul was furious and resented this song. “They have ascribed tens of thousands to David,” he said, “but only thousands to me. “What more can he have but the kingdom?” 9 And from that day forward Saul kept a jealous eye on David. Berean Study Bible

PRIDE

1 Chronicles 21:1-2 Now Satan entered the scene and seduced David into taking a census of Israel. David gave orders to Joab and the army officers under him, “Canvass all the tribes of Israel, from Dan to Beersheba, and get a count of the population. I want to know the number.” The Message

You can’t spell PRIDE or INSECURITY without “I”

1. FORGET “THE JONESES”

Matthew 6:31 “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?” 32 These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs.” New Living Translation

2. CELEBRATE WHEN OTHERS SUCCEED

3. CULTIVATE CONTENTMENT

Psalm 105:5 “Remember [with awe and gratitude] the wonderful things which He has done, His amazing deeds…” Amplified Bible
