Fasting is giving up Natural Things so we can Replace them with God Things so God can do His Thing
God Things are extra Prayer, Bible Reading, Worship, Seeking and Waiting On God, and Following God Promptings.
Seasons of Fasting help us Overcome Barriers, Make Decisions, Produce Change in Loved Ones, Cleanse our Hearts, Satisfy Our Spiritual Hunger, and Follow God Promptings.
Jesus taught that Christians are to have Seasons of Fasting
Luke 5:33 One day some people said to Jesus, “John the Baptist’s disciples fast and pray regularly, and so do the disciples of the Pharisees. Why are your disciples always eating and drinking?” New Living Translation
Luke 5:34 Jesus responded, “Do wedding guests fast while celebrating with the groom? Of course not. 35 But someday the groom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast.” New Living Translation
Jesus taught us that God would Reward our Seasons of Fasting
Matthew 6:16 Moreover, when you fast, do not be like the hypocrites, with a sad countenance. For they disfigure their faces that they may appear to men to be fasting. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. New King James Version
Matthew 6:17 But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, 18 so that you do not appear to men to be fasting, but to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. New King James Version
Jesus taught us that God will answer Our Prayers Over and Over Again
Luke 11:9 So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. New International Version
