July 16, 2023

Pastor Toni DeNunzio

2 Timothy 2:15 Study and do your best to present yourself to God approved, a workman [tested by trial] who has no reason to be ashamed, accurately handling and skillfully teaching the word of truth. Amplified Bible

The Assignment

What is an assignment?

as·sign·ment- noun

1.    a task or piece of work assigned to someone as part of a job or course of study. - "a homework assignment"

Our Lives have assignments that we were meant to finish.

Acts 20:24 But life is worth nothing unless I use it for doing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about God’s mighty kindness and love. Living Bible

Problems with our assignments:

1.    Many times, we struggle to finish and complete the assignments God has given us.

2.    We don’t finish well.

Exodus 3:10 Now go, for I am sending you to Pharaoh. You must lead my people Israel out of Egypt. New Living Translation

The Problem:

#1 We question our ability to do the assignment: “Insecurity.”

Exodus 3:11 But Moses protested to God, “Who am I to appear before Pharaoh? Who am I to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt?” New Living Translation

What qualifies me to do this?

God’s Solution:

Exodus 3:12 God answered, “I will be with you, and when you bring the people out of Egypt, you will worship be on this mountain… Good News Translation

To finish your assignment, it is not dependent on who you are but who is with you.

Moses was not alone in this assignment God was going to be with him.

You are not alone in your assignments; God has given you the Holy Spirit to help lead and walk through so you can finish your assignments.

#2 We are focused on the “What If’s.”

Exodus 4:1 But Moses protested again, “What if they won’t believe me or listen to me? What if they say, ‘The Lord never appeared to you’?” New Living Translation

God’s Solution: Be Obedient with what I have placed in your hands.

We are not to focus on the “what if’s”, but we are to be obedient to what God has asked us to do.

When you follow Jesus, obedience is your part, and the outcome is God’s part.

#3 We think we’re alone in our assignments.

This was Moses’ last plea when he thought he was going to have to do it alone…

Exodus 4:13 But Moses again pleaded, “Lord, please! Send anyone else.” New Living Translation

God’s Solution:

Exodus 4:14 Then the Lord became angry with Moses. “All right,” he said. “What about your brother, Aaron the Levite? I know he speaks well. And look! He is on his way to meet you now. He will be delighted to see you. 15 Talk to him and put the words in his mouth. I will be with both of you as you speak, and I will instruct you both in what to do. 16 Aaron will be your spokesman to the people. He will be your mouthpiece, and you will stand in the place of God for him, telling him what to say. New Living Translation

Even in our discomfort to finish our assignment, our Father will provide a way for us to complete it and finish well!
