Who am I?
Where did I come from?
Where am I going when I die?
And how should I live?
Am I content with the counterfeit?
Exodus 3:1 One day Moses was tending the flock of his father-in-law, Jethro, the priest of Midian. He led the flock far into the wilderness and came to Sinai, the mountain of God. 2 There the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a blazing fire from the middle of a bush. Moses stared in amazement. Though the bush was engulfed in flames, it didn’t burn up.3 “This is amazing,” Moses said to himself. “Why isn’t that bush burning up? I must go see it.” New Living Translation
Exodus 3:4 When the Lord saw Moses coming to take a closer look, God called to him from the middle of the bush, “Moses! Moses!” “HereI am!” Moses replied. New Living Translation
Exodus 3:5 “Do not come any closer,” the Lord warned.“Take off your sandals, for you are standing on holy ground. 6 I am theGod of your father—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” When Moses heard this, he covered his face because he was afraid to look at God. New Living Translation
Exodus 3:7 Then the Lord told him, “I have certainly seen the oppression of my people in Egypt. I have heard their cries of distress because of their harsh slave drivers. Yes, I am aware of their suffering. 8 So I have come down to rescue them from the power of the Egyptians and lead them out of Egypt into their own fertile and spacious land. It is a land flowing with milk and honey—the land where the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites now live. 9 Look! The cry of the people of Israel has reached me, and I have seen how harshly the Egyptians abuse them. New Living Translation
Exodus 3:10 Now go, for I am sending you to Pharaoh. You must lead my people Israel out of Egypt.” 11 But Moses protested toGod, “Who am I to appear before Pharaoh? Who am I to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt?” New Living Translation
Exodus 3:12 God answered, “I will be with you." New Living Translation
“We do not find our true self by seeking it. Rather, we find it by seeking God.” - David Benner
We do not discover ourselves by ourselves.
There is a version of "me" that God created me to be.
The best way to become aware of the counterfeit is to experience the genuine.
There are many rival powers, but they are no rival in power.
1 Corinthians 6:9 Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men 10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. New International Version
A need to meet
A role to play
God's presence and power
Acceptance from the elders of God's people
Exodus 3:18 “The elders of Israel will accept your message. The wrong people in our lives will affirm the wrong things. The right people in our lives will affirm what God thinks. New Living Translation
The wrong people in our lives will affirm the wrong things.
The right people in our lives will affirm what God thinks.
1 Timothy 1:18 Timothy, my son, here are my instructions for you, based on the prophetic words spoken about you earlier. May they help you fight well in the Lord’s battles. New Living Translation
2 Timothy 1:5 I remember your genuine faith, for you share the faith that first filled your grandmother Lois and your mother, Eunice. AndI know that same faith continues strong in you. 6 This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you when I laid my hands on you. New Living Translation
